Carnatic Music Class

Another major teaching wing of Saraswathy Kala Kendra is teaching Carnatic music. Over 30 years of teaching experience in Carnatic music and Tamil Isai Saraswathy Kala Kendra’s dedicated teachers embedding swaras and ragas in the hearts of the able disciples. So many students from this institute have learnt and enjoyed the taste of music.

Enrolment: A boy or girl with the age of five and above is eligible to join the course.

Beginning lessons:

The following lessons are taken to the first level students,  Sarali varisaigal, Janda varisaigal, Melsthayi varisaigal, Thaattu varisaigal, Alangaram. The same lessons are repeated in thrikaalam (3 different speeds).

At the end of 18 months of training in the first level the student are taken for assessment then they will enter in to the second level of music.

Second level (Geetham group): In this group they learn 9 geethas of various ragas. Training will be given to identify swaras from veena and hormonium while the instructor is playing.

Third level (Varnam group): In this group students will learn about 9 varnas in varius ragas.

Forth level (Senior group): Student will get trained in ragapprayogam, kalpanaswaram, keerthanam, thaanam, aalabanai, etc.

Theory class: The basic theory class will be taken on the second Sunday of every month for junior and senior classes.

The theory class will cover the lessons on swaras, talas, sthanam, ragas and its classifications.

Assessment:  Every student is personally assessed and will be discussed with the parents once in three months.

Arangetram: After completing the fourth level students perform arangetram with a full set of traditional stage performing items with live orchestra. Certificate is issued after completing arangetram.
